Portrait of Moses

Moses is now in his third year as a boarder at Kericho High School in southwestern Kenya. Children normally start secondary school in Kenya at fourteen but Moses began later due to family problems. He is an orphan and his guardian is Sarah Njambi who became headmistress of Saramek Primary after Will and Ollie left. Unfortunately, however, Sarah was driven out of the area by the troubles that followed the elections in December 2007. Since Moses was from the Luo tribe, he was not targeted and was able to remain. He has an aunt who works on one of the local tea estates and with whom he spends some of the holidays. Otherwise he stays at school where there is tuition during the holidays. KHS works them hard and has good results!

Moses’s dream is to study engineering at university. This is a popular university course as it has very good job prospects so he has been told he needs an A- to get a place. He plays in the school football and rugby teams.

He sent a message via Roger : "Thank you for your good wishes and for all you are doing to help me. I can assure you that I am going to work hard and succeed!"
